About Aroma Spa Retreat

Aroma Spa Retreat Bali is the love child of sisters Delma and Sonya Davies. They have both worked in the corporate world, in business and marketing and juggled careers, family and roles in community organizations.

They have both had children who suffered extreme ill health at different times and they have both experienced the exhaustion that comes when you are looking after everyone else’s needs. They saw woman and men all around them who had the same issues, over committed, working long hours, no time for themselves, suffering giving fatigue.

Their discussions always came back to the same thing. If only there was a place that you could go where someone mothered you and looked after you. Where you didn’t have to make any decisions or worry about anyone but yourself.

There were plenty of Spas or health retreats but nowhere that offered a combination of high touch treatments using organic products and leading edge anti-aging technology.

So plenty of likeminded people but where would be the best place to open such a place? Bali the Island of the gods, a place of deep spirituality and a place with a rich tradition of spas and health retreats. The Bali therapists are the most sort after in the world because of their touch. Their touch is unique and healing. Combine this with Western technology and it is an unbeatable combination.

Delma and Sonya have assembled a very experienced team who have taken additional training to deliver the high touch experience for our guests.

Sanur & Surrounds

Aroma Spa Retreat is situated in beautiful Sanur, one of the main beach resort areas on the south coast of Bali. Located 18km from the airport, the drive to Sanur takes around 25 minutes. Sanur is a fishing village that still features local life and colour. It does not have the intense hustle and bustle of Kuta or the manicured experience of Nusa Dua.

Sanur is a great authentic alternative getaway with a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. The main street, Jl Danau Tamblingham, features a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Over the years, other areas of Bali have developed quickly, leaving Sanur relatively quiet and untouched, enticing those who want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the Kuta and Seminyak areas.

Sanur also boasts a natural reef, making it ideal for surfers and also people with young children, as inside the reef is very safe for swimming.

Sanur is made up of 7 small districts, joined together seamlessly by Jalan Bypass (the main road) and tourist trade infrastructure. Driving from Kuta, the significant landmarks on the Bypass are the Lottie Mart Supermarket on the left hand side on the very southern end of Sanur before Jl.Danau Poso. As the Bypass swings through and heads left, the significant landmarks are McDonalds, which is a prominent meeting place at the junction with Jl. Segara Ayu, and the KFC, at the junction with Jl. Hang Tuah in the north.

North Sanur: Jl. Hang Tuah (KFC) is the small road that leads directly to the beach. It has a row of small hotels and Jl. Danau Toba has a good selection of restaurants and shops. Just south along the beachside pathway is Museum Le Mayeur (open Mon-Thurs & Sun 8am-3pm, Fri 8am-12.30pm). The Sanur Paradise Plaza is a wonderful hotel located at Jl. Hang Tuah and the Bypass.

Sindhu: The area between Jl. Segara Ayu (McDonalds) and Jl. Pantai Karang is known as Sindhu. This is a relatively high-density area of hotels and restaurants.

Batujimber: This area is popular with expats living in Sanur. The Hardy’s supermarket and restaurants close by give a slight ‘Seminyak’ kind of feel. Many expats prefer living in Sanur due to the quieter atmosphere than Kuta. Cafe Batujimber is a great place for a lunch stop.

Semawang: The coastal strip to the south of Sanur from the Bali Hyatt to Hotel Sanur Beach. This part of the beach is quiet and you will see the brightly colored jukung (local fishing boats).

Blanjong: The southern section of Sanur close to the Bypass. The location of the Prasasti Blanjong ancient inscriptions on Jl. Danau Poso. Some of the oldest recorded writing on the island is preserved at the small temple at Prasasti Blanjong on Jl. Danau Poso.

Sanur is a quiet holiday destination for rest and relaxation as well as being one of the best family holiday destinations in the world – a great family holiday destination.
